Taralga Australia Day Rodeo
Taralga, it’s time to pull on your best pair of boots and tuck your hat low — the 2026 Taralga Australia Day Rodeo has officially found its match in the arena.
We’re proud to announce Baxter Boots as Naming Rights Sponsor for the 2026 event, set to raise dust, heart rates and the occasional eyebrow at Taralga Showground on Sunday 25 January 2026.
This partnership celebrates shared values of grit, craftsmanship, and community. Baxter Boots and Taralga Rodeo both stand for doing things properly, backing regional Australia, and not being afraid of a bit of dust.
Chair of the Taralga Rodeo Committee, Jason Chalker, said:
“Taralga is built on authenticity. Baxter Boots doesn’t pretend to make tough boots – they just do it. It’s a match made in dust, sweat and stock saddle leather.”
“Besides, every rodeo needs boots that can run from bulls, kick pen-gates shut and still look respectable at the bar afterward. We’re delighted Baxter Boots has agreed to take on the job”.
The event will proudly run as the 2026 Baxter Boots Taralga Australia Day Rodeo.

180 Years of St Stephens Presbyterian Church Worship in Taralga
‘Harrapool’, the home of Mr and Mrs Donald Ross, was the location of the first Presbyterian service from 1845 to 1861. This service was conducted by Rev. William Hamilton of Goulburn.
1947 was the year that the congregation of St Mary’s decided that a bigger church was needed and a plan was launched to start the process and to start fundraising. St Mary’s is the renovated church at 20 Hill St that was sold by the Presbyterian Church in 1954 to a private buyer.
St Mary’s Presbyterian Church, Hill Street, Taralga, was built in 1861 and used until the current Church was built. The first service was conducted by Rev. William Ross.
St Stephen’s Presbyterian Church, Bannaby St, Taralga, was dedicated in 1954 and is the present place of worship. The first Minister at St Stephen’s was Rev. R.O. Walder. The foundation stone was laid by Rev. Victor Bell in 1953.
St Stephen’s Presbyterian Church, Taralga - you are welcome.

‘Seed Thoughts’
An exhibition of message and messenger paintings.
Opening event:
Saturday 4 October at Midday
Sometimes acts of creativity can appear mysterious to the viewer.
‘Meaning’ and ‘intention’ are not always obvious, and the artist can choose to allow the work to speak for itself… or not.
Geelong artist Karen Tacon chooses to leave a trail of crumbs for us to appreciate her images by referring to her inspiration:
“The concept of seed thoughts is derived from the phenomena of orbs or shapes of light that appear in paranormal psychology. Interestingly, Sanskrit refers to these as ‘seed thoughts’. For me, these shapes are pleasing, and offer a vehicle for exploring movement, luminosity and colour harmony. They give rise to my own thoughts of opening to higher energies and proceeding forward with love, light and hope.”
