This is the third solo show at the gallery for artist Tony Ameneiro, whose reputation as an award-winning artist is based on a comprehensive body of work held in public collections both in Australia and abroad.

The title ‘File Under Life’ refers to the artist’s commitment to his life drawing practice, resulting in hundreds of exquisite renderings of the human form over many years. In this show however, he combines versions of these drawings utilising a printmaker’s technique of incising images onto a flat surface.

The uniqueness of these artworks lies in his choice of material. As a musician, Tony has a love of the keyboard, so when his old piano became too old to play, he decided to break down the instrument and repurpose the ivory keys. In this way the drawings have become almost like scrimshaw, being scratched into the ivory surface and embellished with subtle tones of monochromatic black ink.

The Taralga Progress Association is coordinating a collection of Questions that can be presented to the Upper Lachlan Council at their ‘outreach’ meeting on Thursday the 5th of November at the Taralga Memorial Hall.

HumeLink October 2026 construction update

This month marks one full year of main construction on HumeLink East. Work is now progressing along the entire project alignment between Bannaby and Wondalga. We expect to have 160 of the project’s 459 transmission towers erected by the end of October. The first transmission towers have also been erected in the project’s northern section at Middle Arm (Upper Lachlan Shire Council) with extra crews being mobilised to work between Bannaby, Taralga and Goulburn. Helicopter stringing is also continuing near Broadway (Upper Lachlan Shire Council), Gobarralong (Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council) and near Wyangle (Snowy Valleys Council).

Construction during October 2026 includes:

• Bannaby: testing of high-voltage electrical equipment is continuing at the Bannaby substation upgrade.

• Bannaby to Goulburn: assembly and erection of transmission towers at multiple sites.

• Bannaby to Tumut: ongoing construction of access tracks, access points, tower pads and break-and-winch pads along the full alignment, with more than 237 kilometres of access tracks now completed.

• Taralga: mobilisation of tower assembly and erection team.

• Adjungbilly, Gobarralong, Gurrundah and Broadway: ongoing assembly and erection of towers.

• Killimicat and Brungle Creek: civil construction on properties located off Brungle Road, Cockatoo Road and Brungle Creek Road.

• Broadway, Jerrawa, Gurrundah, Gobarralong, Adjungbilly and Wyangle: stringing of draw wire by helicopter, followed by conductor for transmission towers.

What to expect
Construction activities: use of excavators, cranes, piling rigs and other heavy machinery for access points, clearing, earthworks, piling and tower erection, as well as trucks delivering equipment and materials.

Work hours: construction works take place during daylight hours:

• Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm

• Saturday 8am to 1pm.

• Out of hours work: landowners notified beforehand.

Work may be noisy at times: we will do everything we can to minimise any impacts, such as turning off equipment and vehicles when they are not being used. 

Traffic and environment: increase in HumeLink East vehicles, steel delivery and concrete trucks on local roads.
